Treatment Philosophy
Imago™ Couples Counseling
|
Norene Gonsiewski, MSW, LCSW is a certified Imago™ Relationship Therapist and has
counseled couples since 1980. In addition to treating all couples who want to improve
communication and enhance their intimacy, Norene has specialized in couples who
have ill children, blended families, gay and lesbian couples, and those couples
who feel “at the end of the road” in their relationship. Norene continues to grow
in her own marriage and is the loving mom of two young adult children.
Tim Higdon, MS, LPC has been a certified Imago Relationship therapist and advanced
Imago Clinician for 13 years. He is an Imago Workshop Presenter and has worked with
individuals, couples, families and the central Oregon community since 1980. He has
extensive training in family systems therapy and as a Love and Logic Educator, he
is able to support parents in their relationship growth and parenting skills. Tim’s
expertise is helping people build satisfying and lasting long term relationships.
Tim focuses on restoring connections ruptured by conflict and stress.
Catherine M. Melo, MSW, LCSW is a Clinical Social Worker with a wealth of experience.
She has been a student of Imago Relationship Therapy for over 10 years. She is an
Advanced Clinician in Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT) and Certified Workshop Presenter.
She is dedicated to working with individuals and couples because she has seen how
this simple yet profound approach can transform both the individual and the relationship.
She is passionate about this work because of her own personal experience with Imago
Relationship Therapy in her relationship with her husband, John.
Catherine is known
for her warmth, candor, humor, passion and energy. She connects with her couples
with empathy and insight, meeting them wherever they are in their relationship journey
and helping them find the relationship of their dreams.
“I do believe we are healing
the world, one relationship at a time” she says. “We are relational beings. It is
our birthright to feel lovingly connected, alive and energetic in all of our relationships.
I am committed to helping people realize that birthright”.
In addition to “Getting
the Love You Want” couples workshops, Catherine mentors couples in private sessions
in her office. She is also highly experienced in working with persons dealing with
trauma and grief after working many years with combat veterans at the VA.
John Wolfe, MSW is a recent graduate of the Imago Relationship Clinical Training.
With his strong interest in multicultural and blended families, John offers personal
and professional expertise in these much underserved areas. Blending families is
a difficult task and is a significant contributor to the 60-80% divorce rate among
second marriages. John has worked with couples for over two decades and finds that
Imago Therapy offers blended couples, as well as all couples, the toolbox that other
systems lack.

The staff of Innovations
in Counseling is diversely trained and has extensive experience in couples counseling.
Sometimes when working with couples, a counselor needs to be a cheer leader and
sometimes a drill sergeant. At all times when working with relationships a counselor
needs to provide a safe container in which a couple can open up into more honesty
with one another.
We utilize the techniques of Imago Relationship Therapy™, pioneered by Harville
Hendrix, and perfected by some of therapy’s brightest minds.
Imago™ offers couples, parents, families and singles who are hoping to find a permanent
intimate relationship:
-
A new way to love.
-
Helping each other heal childhood wounds and grow into a full adult.
-
All the tools necessary for immediate relief and for transforming relationships.
-
Greater compassion for your partner.
-
New communication skills to break destructive cycles of relating. Couples learn
how to channel the energy from their arguments to create passion and stability in
their relationship.
-
Discovering how the unconscious forces that attract you to your partner are also
the source of conflict. Couples learn more about themselves and their partner, organized
in a new, more thoughtful way.
-
New tools for re-romanticizing your relationship to rekindle the passion of your
early time together.
-
Learning how to use your relationship for emotional healing and spiritual development.
